About meI'm Bogdan Pasca, a Principal Engineer at Altera. I work on FPGA arithmetic, high-performance design, and mapping computations efficiently onto low-level hardware primitives. I completed my PhD with the Arénaire team at ENS de Lyon's LIP laboratory, under the supervision of Florent de Dinechin. My thesis explored high-performance floating-point computing on reconfigurable circuits and flexible arithmetic operators for FPGAs. That work shaped how I design arithmetic today: every bit matters. Accuracy should be specified and proven rather than measured, and an implementation should use only the hardware it needs. During those years I co-developed FloPoCo, contributing to its framework and arithmetic operators. It remains one of my proudest achievements. Since joining Altera in 2011, I've carried the same approach into FPGA tools; my arithmetic contributions are available through Altera tools and Quartus libraries. See my publications for the research behind this work.
